July 2014 Dividend Update

We now have 7 months on the books for 2014 and it is time to update my dividend progress for July.  We have started to get a correction to end the last two days of July and looking forward to what the markets can bring us here in August.  The dividends steadily rolled into the accounts buying me more shares.  I have not been buying too much lately so it is mostly the compounding effect powering the totals a little bit higher from my April total.  I expect next month to be a similar total and September to be a better month like it is for most of my fellow DGI investors.  August I am expecting to receive two dividend from GLAD for some reason they are paying one the 5th and another the 29th instead of the last day of the month of July like it usually has done for many months.

How was you your July?  Hope you are doing well in August!

Thanks for reading.

  1. Very nice progress! My dividends were slightly below what you received for July. Overall, my July was a positive month. Hopefully there will be some opportunities for some nice bargains. It's getting harder to find good deals nowadays.

    Cheers and happy investing!

  2. Swan,

Wow, you have a lot of companies paying dividends in July. You are miles ahead of everyone for your age. Keep going with the regular investments and you will reach your goals much sooner than you realize.

    1. MDP,

Thank you for the encouragement and support! I started investing pretty young, but wish I started dividend investing and focused more on compounding 12 years ago. For your age you are crushing it with puttinf capital to work and some nice dividend totals.

      I'll continue to follow along!

  4. A solid income for the month of July. We are all headed in the same direction just at different paces but the goal is common among all DGI investors. Thanks for sharing and look forward to your next update. As a SWAN guy myself i find your portfolio having quite a few non-SWAN names. Many of your stocks seem to be very high yield though I'm not sure how stable. In any case, keep up the good work.

    1. DivHut,

You are right a couple of them have risks, but I don't see it having much of an impact on my income. I've been getting dividend increases much more often then cuts. Would I recommend some of the riskier closed end funds to everyone? Probably not, but I am comfortable with my wide range of companies. I am comfortable with the majority of my holdings and think I bought the stock undervalued for the most part.

      Thank you for your observations.

    1. Tawcan,

It was nice to receive a decent amount of income in July from investments. Should grow steadily over the months as well because of compounding. Don't worry about getting a late start as long as you start now you have a much better shot at reaching your income needs and goals then someone who gives up on the process thinking it's too late.
