December 2014 Dividend Update

December was another great month to end the year for dividends. Many are scheduled to pay out in December and a couple companies do special dividends yearly or semi annually on top of their regular payments. Some BDC's, CEF's, and MLP related oil stocks had to cut the dividend. They had to start the new year with a more reasonable dividend policy due to low oil prices and unsustainably high payout ratio. I received 44 dividend payments in December.

    1. ADD,

December is always a nice month with a lot of monthly dividends and some quarterly and additional special payments. It would be nice if I could grow these totals into the off months as well. Thanks for stopping by and congrats on starting your journey to more dividends.

  2. I agree. A very, very long list of diversified names with a few names that overlap my own portfolio. Knocking on $300 for December dividend income is certainly a nice achievement. Thanks for sharing and look forward to your next update.

    1. DivHut,

I might take a hit for a little bit the next couple months due to a couple smaller payouts and the cancellation of ARCP dividend. I think I am going to hold onto them and see how everything turns out. I know a lot of people have good reasons to sell them right now though. Hopefully i can reach $300 a few months this year.

You have a great site over there!

    1. There's Value,

i too like Ford. It seems to be beaten down more then it deserves to be. One of these days it should rise to new 52 week highs though I'm hoping. Then again it is a nice opportunity in the mean time to add shares at a 4% plus yield.

Good to be a fellow shareholder in Ford (F)

    2. I think you're right. I once read a piece a few years ago that reckoned Ford was really worht around $28 - nearly double what it is right now. I think they're the only American car manufacturer I'd own right now. The yield has been growing nicely for a couple of years, and I really expect 2015 to be strong for Ford. They're just under $15 right now... I think it's a good opportunity to stock up.

    3. TV,

Ford is still cheap even with the dividend raise. With around 4% yield maybe they start moving higher after this earnings report coming up.

  4. I hope they don't rise too much before I get a chance to buy
