March 2016 Dividend Update

We are into April, but you would not know it is going to get warmer soon if you were here in Michigan. Meanwhile as I have been focused on my investments and sidetracked from time to time by both work and school the dividends kept on coming in strong. I finished March with my first time receiving over $300 in a month. I am also very near completion of my degree with only one more course left to complete. I plan on attending my graduation in mid June. I finally can see the end of the undergrad degree coming to a close.

  1. Wow, that's a lot of companies! Is that Ford dividend the special dividend they promised? Keep up the good work.

    1. Captain Dividend,

Thank you! You are doing a great job of sustaining dividend amounts each month growing into similar amounts. Yes, Ford did pay the 25 cent special dividend on top of the 15 cent regular one. The share price suffered a bit because of the lack of confidence in a raise.

  2. Congrats on cracking that $300 mark. You have quite a few names paying you in March. Nice way to stay diversified among all those stocks. Happy graduation too! I'm sure you are getting excited now that you can see the light at the end of your undergrad degree tunnel.

    1. DivHut,

Thank you very much! I am excited about finishing the Bachelors degree finally. It was a long journey since I completely changed my major a few years ago. Not only is it hard work, but it is also expensive.

We will see if I will be able to go on to graduate school or the CFA in the future or not.

    1. IH,

O is a pretty safe monthly payout and has been for many years. Prospect is a bit more risky, but it has been ok for me so far despite having to cut not too long ago.

      Thanks for the comment!

  4. Graduating from college seems like a lifetime ago. The fact your cracked $300 already and still have your life ahead of you is awesome. Good luck,
    DFG.

    1. DFG,

Yeah, thanks man. If I went for finance from the beginning I would have finished years ago probably with more advanced degrees by now. I am glad I was able to return to school and not have to wait until I am too old. My income has slowed more than I would like and may for a bit while I try to get rid of tuition debt. Graduate school or the CFA program may interest me in the future.

Thanks for stopping by! It sounds like you are doing great supporting a nice family over there.
