September is over and it
is time to count up all the dividends received throughout September 2014. A new personal best was set and will stand
until December where I should be able to improve on. I am still anticipating I will likely fall
short of my goal this year in total dividends of $2700. This is mainly because my buying has been put
on hold for a couple months because of the cost of school and books these
days. I hope to be more active with
acquiring income producing assets in the near future, but have been kind of
stuck lately. I eliminated my car payment debt at least and now own it 100%. The nice thing about this strategy is most of my
dividend stocks are being reinvested in additional shares. The portfolio continues to power along with
higher income and share amounts without me at times. Looks like we may see some decreases in our balances, but as long as our income keeps growing I'll be happy. Once it is set up compounding can really take
effect and if you are in a position to add more fresh capital you can reach
Financial Independence that much faster.
I encourage everyone to keep on going down this path. We started to get a little bit of a pullback
that could be used to buy more value on the way down. It can continue to correct for a bigger period
of time then we expect. That should not cause
panic for the long term income investor, but rather encourage us to pick out
the best values out there and accumulate more.

Man, such incredible dividend diversification. Certainly something we can all strive for, although I'm not sure how I could wrap my head around so many positions! Only time will tell of course! :)
ReplyDeletewriting2reality,
DeleteYeah it takes awhile to type them all out, but knowing you are receiving that income often never gets old. Of course I'd like to have more shares of the bigger safe stocks that pay mostly quarterly, but they are mixed in. In time I guess I will try to find a way to keep adding to the portfolio while looking for other plays that are undervalued.
Thank you for stopping by and reading.
Thanks for sharing your recent dividend income update. You have a nice total coming in for the month and from a wide variety of sources. Quite a few REITs and MLPs but you are pretty diversified among them all. A little too much exposure for my taste though. Still, a great month. Keep it up and look forward to your next update.
ReplyDeleteDivHut,
DeleteSeptember is a good month for most of us. I do have quite a bit of exposure to REIT's and BDC's. Your point is well taken and with the market pulling back hopefully I can lessen that exposure, but have been restricted from buying anything now because of lack of capital to put to work. Hope you are having a good October so far.
Yeah that diversification rocks. Do you plan on doing your own taxes (regarding the MLP's?)

DFG,
DeleteI do plan on attempting to file my own taxes. I do not currently own any MLP's that would give me a K-1 that I know of. Linnco is a pass through of LINE Energy. Enerplus is a corporation and the others are closed end funds, BDC's, and REIT's.
Good question. Thanks for asking!
